The present-day U.S. military qualifies by any measure as highly professional, much more so than its Cold War predecessor. Yet the purpose of today’s professionals is not to preserve peace but to fight unending wars in distant places. Intoxicated by a post-Cold War belief in its own omnipotence, the United States allowed itself to be drawn into a long series of armed conflicts, almost all of them yielding unintended consequences and imposing greater than anticipated costs. Since the end of the Cold War, U.S. forces have destroyed many targets and killed many people. Only rarely, however, have they succeeded in accomplishing their assigned political purposes. . . . [F]rom our present vantage point, it becomes apparent that the “Revolution of ‘89” did not initiate a new era of history. At most, the events of that year fostered various unhelpful illusions that impeded our capacity to recognize and respond to the forces of change that actually matter.

Oh Suzannah; I present you with irrefutable facts and your banal, reflexive response is to scream, "Yeah, but your a racist!"

That made my day as I have seen time and again that desperate ploy used whenever one has lost the debate. Using such a trite tactic is tantamount to outright surrender.

Next time you get the urge to yell "Racist" just raise a flag of surrender instead.

lol

I said "you are a racist".... not "your a racist".

I know how to read and write in English.

I see you still have not learned my name.

And the fact is: YOU ARE A RACIST AGAINST MUSLIMS.

I would bet he is racist against immigrants to the USA, too.

The French military took responsibility on Friday for killing four Afghan children during a missile strike in early April, and NATO said it was investigating allegations of a military convoy gunning down two Afghan women and a girl in southeastern Afghanistan.

In the first three months of 2010, at least 72 Afghan civilians were accidentally killed by troops, compared to about 30 killed in the same period last year, according to a NATO official in Kabul.

Every war is a war against children. -H. Zinn

I see the NATO forces are continuing the slaughter of innocents in this massively evil occupation of Afghanistan.

just put it on the credit card. Americans are glad to pay huge bills like this to kill innocent people... or, at least some of them are - like thewiz.

Thewiz is not only a racist, he is also a sexist. But more than that, he is a coward and a dreadful creep.

Thewiz: you are a racist and a sexist, but you are also the worst kind of coward and a dreadful creep.

Sue; If ya wanna be childishly nitpicky, you actually said "He is also blind to his deep racism to those of the Muslim faith. not "you are a racist."

C. As for deleting personal comments, she should show any comment that I made that is racist or be forced to apologize for such a vile insult. I have never treated her nearly as bad as she has treated me. The worse I do is derivations of her name instead of the formal Susan.

Either way I don't really care. I have been treated with terrible civility since my first post years ago. And I try to respond with logic and civility with an occasional lapse in judgement.

As for claims of racism, I challenege anyone here, including Black Friday, to show any racist comment I have made.

I toy with Susan as a defensive mechanism to deflect her continous personal attacks and misrepresentations. Perhaps all would be better served if I were to lower myself to her level by distorting/misrepresenting her posts and engaging her with personal attacks and insults as she does to me.

The monthly casualty statistics, issued by the interior, defense and health ministries, showed that 39 police officers, 15 soldiers and 48 insurgents were killed in April. The number of police killed was sharply lower than in previous months.

wow.. nice timming.

The mere fact that thewiz supports the war crimes committed against the Iraqi & Afghan people by the American establishment, military etc makes him rotten to the core. And as I have said, he is a coward who supports imperialist aggression against muslims. This by itself makes him a racist creep.
